Lesson Overview

In this lesson, students will learn the basics of Minecraft Redstone by building their own automatic sugar cane farm. The lesson is designed to be hands-on, with students building alongside the teacher throughout the class.

Rather than focusing heavily on explaining Redstone beforehand, students will learn through building, testing and solving problems as they go.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

• Understand the basic purpose of Redstone in Minecraft
• Understand how a Redstone signal can activate a mechanism
• Understand the basic function of a piston and observer.
• Build a simple automatic sugar cane farm.
• Explain how their farm works.
• Test and troubleshoot their creation.
• Experiment with improving or expanding their farm.
